Refurbished Reconditioned Used Cell Phones

[Editor's Note: People are starting to take advantage of refurbished reconditioned used cell phones - and why not? They offer 100% of the functionality at incredibly low prices. To get one of your own, we humbly suggest going over to eBay and checking out their huge selection of refurbished, reconditioned, and used cell phones!]

refurbished cell phonesThere are many reasons why refurbished cell phones are becoming popular and popular these days. One of the most appealing factors is the price of the refurbished cell phones. The price is usually considerably lower than the brand new cell phone due to the fact that the cell phone vendors slashed down the price to few dollars up to hundreds of dollars for the refurbished phones. There are number of reasons to this and we are going to take a look at why.

Normally the refurbished cell phones are cell phones that were returned by the first owners to the sellers within the 30-day money back guarantee period. If you think about it carefully, who would return a cell phone within thirty days and why did they return the cell phones? In most cases, the cell phones were returned simply because the owners do not like the cell phone’s features and they do not meet their expectations when they first purchase the cell phone. For instance, they might not like the fact that the cell phone’s screen is too small for them to view anything and therefore they decided to return it and get another cell phone with bigger screen.

It is common to see a refurbished cell phone that is still in good condition and you are more than likely to find any flaws with the cell phone apart from few scratches. The scratches are normally not that deep and do not do any harm to the cell phone. If you see some refurbished cell phones with deep scratches, then most likely the cell phone is being sold at a very low price. However, if you still feel that you like the deep-scratches-refurbished-cell-phone, then you should ask the seller for the terms first so that you know in which condition that you are not allowed to return the cell phone. You should also ask whether the scratches will eventually damage the cell phone or not.

Is it advisable to buy a refurbished cell phone? Depends on what your needs are and what your priorities are. If you are looking to save some money for other items that are more important than a cell phone, then you should consider getting a refurbished cell phone. Cell phone is no longer a luxury as it has become a necessity so it is a smart move to buy a cheaper cell phone that is functioning as good as the new one. New cell phones are for those who can afford to have everything and for those who like to reward themselves with something valuable once a while.

Refurbished cell phones are the best option if you wish to own one of the latest cell phone technologies but at the same time you don’t have enough budget for one. These refurbished cell phones are normally fall into two different categories. The first category is cell phones that are still new and still function as perfect as the brand new one. These cell phones are normally returned because the owners don’t like the phone’s features. Another category is where the cell phones have minor damages such as few scratches on its body or screen. This cell phone will be refurbished and renovated by the vendors and then put up for sale at a lower price.

If you simply go out and shop for refurbished cell phones without first studying about them, then chances of being cheated is great. There are many sellers out there selling so-called refurbished cell phones but you just don’t know the sources. They may just polish the cell phones and clean them up so that they look like a new cell phone and then claim that those have been refurbished. It is essential for you to study about refurbished cell phones first by reading about them in the net either in blogs or forums. Another careful measure that you can take is to only buy refurbished cell phones from reputable companies such as AT&T.

The idea of buying refurbished cell phone is also a good move to save the environment. It has the same concept with recycling other items where instead of throwing away the cell phones, you can trade it in to refurbished cell phones vendor for a new cell phone. It is good to be a good Samaritan. By the way refurbished cell phones are normally as good as new and therefore you can always keep yourself up-to-date with the latest development in mobile world.

Used Unlocked Cell Phones

[Editor's Note: Used unlocked cell phones have many advantages over phones that are tied to a particular carrier. Not only can you move from network to network without any hassles, but you can also get them cheap! Head over to eBay and check out a ton of listings for used and refurbished unlocked cell phones.]

unlocked cell phones cheap

Mobile phones have become a necessity for everyone in today’s world. There are many cell phones available in the market. Some of these are locked while others are unlocked. But what exactly are unlocked cell phones? How do they work? What are their benefits? To know more, read on…

Many of us must be aware of the concept of unlocked cell phones. These are getting more and more common and an increasing number of people are using them nowadays. With unlocked cell phones, one gets the freedom to use a particular mobile phone on any network. To get a clear idea of what an unlocked cell phone is, one first needs to understand what a locked cell phone is.

A locked cell phone is a phone that is tied or ‘locked’ to a specific service provider and can only be used on the network provided by them. On the other hand, an unlocked cell phone is a phone that is not tied or ‘locked’ to any service provider and can be used with different service providers worldwide. Locked mobile phones only work with the Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card supplied by the service provider to which the cell phone is locked. One can use different SIM cards in the locked phone, as long as they belong to the service provider that has provided the cell phone. If the cell phone is later unlocked, then it can recognize, and work with, any SIM card, irrespective of the service provider.

An example would help you better understand: ‘AT&T’ and ‘Sprint’ are two major service providers. A cell phone ‘locked’ to ‘AT&T’ or who’s SIM card is provided by ‘AT&T’, will only work with ‘AT&T’ SIM cards. SIM cards by other providers such as ‘Sprint’ , ‘Verizon’, etc, will not work on the phone. But if the phone provided by ‘AT&T’ is unlocked, it can be used it with other SIM cards provided by ‘Sprint’ or any other service provider. Similarly, cell phones provided by ‘Sprint’ can’t be used with ‘AT&T’ SIM cards or any other service provider for that matter, until they are unlocked.

Service providers usually enter into a contract with cell phone manufacturers, and get a particular system incorporated in cell phones, which disables the use of other networks on their handsets. In the US, the Apple iPhone works only on the AT&T network. One cannot use the iPhone with other service providers such as Sprint or Verizon. But once unlocked, it can be used with SIM cards that belong to any service provider.

If one needs a feature-rich mobile phone that is tied up in a contract with a service provider, and is not available with other networks, he may need to purchase it with a plan, and later unlock it. This is considered an option for people who need the same locked cell phone, but with a different service provider. However, as most providers have a 2 year contract, with early termination clauses, this can be a very expensive option. Mobile phones that work on the CDMA networks cannot be unlocked. However, locked cell phones working on the GSM networks can be unlocked. There are also disadvantages of using unlocked cell phones. If the service provider offers some exclusive facilities such as 3G and GPS on their high-end cell phones, these features would not work on an unlocked the cell phone, or with another service provider. In some cases, service providers help unlock the phone if the contract period is successfully completed, or if traveling out of the country.

Unlocking a mobile phone privately, without informing the respective service provider, may be illegal in some countries. However, mobile phone manufacturers may also offer unlocked cell phone for sale on their website or company outlet. If they do, you surely have a good chance to buy the phone you’ve been thinking of unlocking.

What are Unlocked Cell Phones?

For example, a locked T-Mobile phone cannot be used with a AT&T SIM card. If an unlocked cell phone is used, however, any SIM card can be used with it without having problems.

Motorola V197 Unlocked Phone with Quad-Band GSM and Bluetooth

This unlocked cell phone can be used with a GSM network service provider and it provides quad-band connectivity (850 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz). It does not come with a SIM card, and it requires that you provide a SIM card.

Tips to Buying an Unlocked Cell Phone

The GSM is the type of phone used almost everywhere in the world, but the CDMA is a bit more common in the United States. While it is possible to unlock a cell phone, many people prefer to buy unlocked cell phones.

Cheap Prepaid Cell Phones

[Editor's Note: If you are unsure about a used cell phone but still want to save money, then a good quality prepaid cell phone could be the answer. By popular demand, we've reviewed two of the best prepaid cell phones, so check it out!]

what numbers are used on prepaid cell phones

The benefits of prepaid cell phones are numerous and these benefits may be the best option for you to consider. You may begin to wonder why you haven’t been taking advantage of prepaid cell phones once you discover the amazing bonuses. Prepaid is becoming the more popular option with each passing day. Here are some reasons to consider starting prepaid cell phone services.

Contracts are history!

Standard cell phone contracts are approximately two years. Cell phone providers only accept these contracts because they want to have customers stay with their service as long as possible. Providers are well aware of the fact that opposing cell phone providers will no doubt be running specials within the coming months. With contracts, people face huge penalties to switch, and decide that it is considerably cheaper to simply remain with the same carrier. Prepaid cell phones on the other hand require no contracts.

Overage Fees are history!

I am sure that you have opened your cell phone bill and almost fainted! I know I have! You have gone over your minutes, or your text messaging plan, or you have long distance charges, or worst of all roaming charges; you are going to pay a hefty price for it! This is not an issue with prepaid cell phones. Once you have used the minutes you have purchased, you must buy more minutes. You pay for everything in advance at a flat rate, and then it does not matter how many, when, or where you use them.

Details are history!

Prepaid cell phones do not work like standard plans where you purchase a certain amount of weekday minutes, evening minutes, and weekend minutes. With prepaid, you buy airtime, and that means you are simply purchasing minutes. You can use them whatever time you want to use them. There are also flat fees for those added extras such as video and text messaging, no matter where you are sending them.

This covers just a few of the many bonuses available with prepaid cell phones. If you are looking for a new cell phone, or simply want to find a better way to pay for your cell phone use, prepaid is a great option to consider. Almost all carriers, from small to large, are jumping on the prepaid band wagon and offering these options to their customers. There are many options out there, so choose wisely!

Cheap Sprint Cell Phones

[Editor's Note: For cheap Sprint cell phones, why not check out the eBay Marketplace? With a couple of clicks, you can find hundreds of quality used and refurbished Sprint cell phones for sale. And because it's an auction, you can get used Sprint cell phones at incredibly low prices. See below for a sample listing of the Sprint used cell phones for sale!]

sprint used phonesIt’s well known that cell phones are going to be a part of our economy for many years to come. As a matter of fact they’ve become a need in our society today. When searching for a cell phone there are a few different things to consider. First of course you need to select a carrier. Sprint phones are very popular. They are a great wireless company and very competitive in the market.

Once you’ve chosen a carrier you must choose a place to get your cell phone and service plan.

Most people just go to the mall or the local cellular store. What they don’t realize is no matter where they go the monthly plan is going to be the same. Everyone gets the same deal no matter what. The plans are all preset for any Sprint phone service you want. Most don’t realize that the only place to save money is on the up front cost of the equipment. For example, you might visit the local wireless store and choose a blackberry to go with your new service plan.

If the blackberry is lets say $450.00 new they might offer you a 50% discount because you’re signing a brand new 2 year contract. So you end up paying $225.00 for the phone up front. This money is usually a total profit which will go to commission, rent for the store, and overhead. So how exactly can you find the absolute lowest up front cost on Sprint phones? Well first you want to consider the internet. Online shopping has become extremely popular over the past decade. When choosing a cellular phone you can usually find the lowest price on the internet. There are no employees to pay and no utility or rent to pay either. The savings is then passed directly to the customer? It is important to make sure the company you purchase from online is an authorized dealer. Many online stores advertise free Sprint phones.

That’s usually very appealing to a potential customer. The only problem is they usually have a small selection of phones to choose from and usually they’re the cheap phones that don’t have many features. I am a firm believer that the majority of wireless phones should be free with the exception of the ones that are really high priced. As a matter of fact roughly 80% of them should be free.

I have personally taken the time to find that most of the best deals for Sprint cell phones is online. There are a couple of different sites which seem to be reputable and actual authorized dealers. Once you find what you’re looking for online and compare to what you find at the local wireless store, you’ll find that the internet is the way to save money.

So in conclusion I can only ask, why would you want to pay someone more money than a phone is worth. After all an object is only worth what someone is willing to pay. Are you willing to pay more somewhere else for the same product you can get right here on line?

Is Sprint’s Biodegradable Phone Really Green?

So yes, you’re still plugging the phone in to charge, but you’re also sucking up much less juice than most other cell phone-wielding consumers. Sprint’s phone is nearly free of commonly used toxic materials like polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

Used Sprint Cell Phones

When cell phones first came out most people do not buy the newest model immediately. They did this because they didn’t want to spend a lot of money that is.

How to Check Your Cell Phone Minutes (Sprint)

Checking your cell phone minutes is very helpful when making sure that you don’t go over your included minutes. It is a free call to make any time, and will tell you exactly how many minutes, text messages, and Direct Connect (Nextel users) you have used for your billing cycle. Used Verizon Phones

[Editor's Note: If you're on the lookout for used Verizon phones, there's no better place to look than eBay - the world's largest Internet auction. There are thousands of listings for used and refurbished Verizon cell phones and many of them are available at very low prices. Cheap Verizon cell phones available on eBay - what could be better?]

refurbished cell phone verizonThe LG Dare VX9700 Cell Phone, courtesy of Verizon Wireless, is a touch screen smartphone that dares to be different with its bold looks and advanced capabilities. The Dare is the bestselling phone at the moment, so what makes the LG Dare VX9700 so popular with both young and old today?

First of all, the LG Dare VX9700 is a touch screen smartphone that dares to be different with its bold looks and advanced capabilities. It is out to join the emerging brawl for dominance in the next big wave of cellular phone technology. Led by Apple’s revolutionary iPhone, the fanciest of high-end phones must now engage touch screen technology head on.

The big question is though, is the Dare up to the challenge? On the surface, all of the key ingredients are there, a 3.2-megapixel camera, multimedia capabilities and a compact keyboard-less design completes a full-panel touch screen, dominating the front of the phone.

The menu can be navigated with the flick of a finger, flipping through the contact list for speedy texting, emailing and phoning. Favorites can be reached with a drag and drop photo interface. It’s compatible with the VCast Music and VCAST Music with Rhapsody services, which enables you to purchase from over 2 million songs through your phone and download them via Verizon’s fast EV-DO data network and also boosts VCAST Video to stream entertainment clips, sports highlights, breaking news and weather.

Design

The LG Dare is a professional PDA style looking phone in a conveniently-sized package. The dimensions are slight (104 x 56 x 13 mm) and its mass negligible (107 grams), therefore small enough to fit into the palm of a hand or the back pocket of jeans. It has a stainless steel border along its sides and black soft touch surface on the back.

As the front of the phone features a full-panel touch screen, it allows for beautifully customized wallpaper to dominate the look of the active phone. The downside of this is that the full-panel touch screen leaves plenty of room for fingerprints and scratches, so it may be advisable to buy a protective covering.

The bit I personally love is the Light Sensor on the upper left which detects the amount of light and adjusts the brightness of the LCD to conserve battery power and extend screen life.

Features

The LG dare VX9700 Cell Phone features a large 3-inch touchscreen that recognizes your handwriting and provides tactile feedback when pressing onscreen buttons or typing on the onscreen full QWERTY keyboard. The display resolution is 240 x 400-pixels and supports 262K colours, and its home screen has several shortcut icons including your messaging inbox, phonebook, favourites menu and much more. The phone provides just three buttons on the bottom of its face for send, end and clearing calls.

Some of the other more important features to mention are:

  • Internal 148 MB memory, which can be expanded via optional MicroSD memory cards up to 8 GB in size.
  • Stores up to 1000 contact entries, with fields for five numbers per contact.
  • It connects to your PC via USB, and it offers USB mass storage capabilities.
  • The 3.2-megapixel camera with Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens offers several resolution options, ranging from 2048 x 1536 pixels to QVGA 320 x 240 pixels. It offers many advanced features, which are too many to mention here but some useful ones are face detection, SmartPic Technology (which helps to compensate face color), six preset scense, panorama and split shot capabilities, multi-shot, multiple color effects, a flash, self-timer, and multiple shutter sounds (including off). Once you’ve snapped your photo, you can edit it right in the Dare zoom, rotate, crop, add frames, or add writing over the image.
  • The latest version of Bluetooth connectivity, version 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate), which makes pairing with the included headset as well as other Bluetooth devices a snap. The EDR capability allows for faster connection than with the previous version 1.2, which makes transferring files and using the phone as a modem for your laptop hum along nicely. And streaming your music to a pair of Bluetooth stereo headphones or other compatible devices becomes child play with the embedded A2DP Bluetooth profile.

These are just some of the many features available on the LG Dare. So what do consumers have to say about this phone. The positives are excellent fast browser, great photos, huge touch screen, excellent battery life and the reception is above average. On the other hand most users found that people who they speak to found they had an echo, it is not very ergonomically designed, the virtual (qwerty) keyboard is difficult to use especially with large fingers and the scrolling capabilities can be tempermental.

In summary, if you want a PDA style phone with the best internet browser and some great features, the LG Dare VX 9700 Cell Phone may just be for you. However, if you text a decent amount, this phone may be a headache waiting to happen to you. And if you prefer a touch screen phone with a keyboard, then the Voyager may be the better option.

Sell Used Cell Phones

[Editor's Note: Many people are starting to sell used cell phones as a way to not only make some money, but also ensure that their old cell phone isn't ending up in some land fill, polluting the environment. Our favorite place to sell used cell phones is Gazelle. The offer the best rates on the Internet for used cell phones, and they even offer to pay for the shipping!]

sell your old cell phone for cash model c139 motorola

With the economy the way it is these days, charities have to come up with some new ways to raise the all important operating capital that is so desperately needed to function. Of all the ways and means of raising such capital, one way has been tried but somewhat laid to rest. This article is written to revive a very lucrative source of capital. Now we are not speaking about millions of dollars, but for many small non-profits, it could very well become a significant source of revenue…if applied properly. Read on for the details and give it a try.

When utilizing used and old cell phones as a way or raising resources, one must keep the following things in mind in order to be successful. Below are outlined those things which you should do to fully maximize the potential.

1) When collecting cell phones look at the possible locations or resources from which you might draw these cell phones from. For example, you may utilize your church. You may utilize your scout troop parents and friends. You may utilize your neighborhood and even an entire city. You need to ask yourself, "How much money do we need to raise"? The answer to that will help you determine where to draw from.

2) After you have decided on the populace from which to draw (church, scout troop parents/friends, the neighborhood or the city) you need to put together a drop point or multiple drop points. People need to know where to drop off their cell phones, but they do not need to be told. Drop points are places where the same person frequents meaning they will see the collection box and on a subsequent visit, they will donate if they choose. Good drop points are gas stations, a church, grocery stores, universities, colleges, etc. Talk to the managers of these places and arrange an agreement to place well labeled boxes for collections and to make regular pick ups. Also, request that donations include their charging device. Place a short, well written "donation instructions" on the box. Include things like include chargers, batteries, working cell phones, no stolen phones, no broken phones, etc. You may still get some however as people will inevitably use it as a way of getting rid of broken phone, stolen phones and phones with balances because they know they cannot be reactivated.

3) The next thing to do is to know what you are sending in to be converted to cash. This is very important. There are two types of cell phones.

a. SIM card phones which are cell phones that require a little plastic card that is inserted inside the cell phone in order to make it operable. Such companies that use SIM technologies are the New ATT, T-Mobile, Nextel (not sprint), Cincinnati Bell, Sun Com, and Cellular One. These phones are often referred to as GSM phones. These phones are preferred because there is no interaction with the cell phone service provider to make them work. All one does is insert their SIM card and it works

b. Non SIM card phones are phones which do not require a SIM card to operate. They include such companies as Sprint, Verizon, Cricket, Pocket, Helio, US Cellular, Alltel, Virgin Mobile and Q- West. These phones are known as CDMA phones.

SIM card phones or GSM phones can be easily activated without the service provider being involved. These types of phones are more desirable for purchase. The others must go through an activation process via their respective companies (Sprint, Verizon, etc). If the phone has been reported lost or stolen, it cannot be activated. Also, if it has an unpaid balance, it cannot be activated. This only applies to the non SIM card family of phones. This is why the SIM card phone or GSM phone is most desirable. Most online buyback companies will not pay for a cell phone that cannot be reactivated. Sell My Old Cell Phone will pay a broken phone price for such phones, however. If the populace from which you are drawing your phones from is one that can be spoken to (church, ladies group, scout’s, etc) let them know you only collect GSM phones and explain what that is. If your audience cannot be collected and addressed, then sort your collection between the two groups.

4) Go to an online buyback company, such as Sell My Old Cell Phone, and submit an order. You can do this in several fashions.

a. You can simply submit the entire box and let Sell My Old Cell Phone sort them and price them out or,

b. You can submit two separate orders, one for GSM and the other for CDMA. GSM phones have a higher success rate for earning the most money. The CDMA’s are usually parted out.

5) Follow the instructions outlined in the Terms and Conditions and wait for a check!

In the fast life of today, cell phones are no more a luxury. They are a necessity. We need to travel long distances for work. For a speedy access to information, we need to ’stay connected’ and cannot afford to miss the slightest of the details of what is happening around us. A cell phone provides us with wireless communication facilities, enabling us to reach out to people located in different parts of the world. Cell phone technology provides its users with mobile communication facilities and allows them to stay connected with each other. Mobile phones make use of satellite communication technology, making the signal transmission easy and speedy.

Justifying the need of mobile phones in the fast-paced life of today, we all wish to possess one of the top cell phone models available in the market. Although most of us wish to own the latest mobile technology, not all of us can afford one. It is good to go for a brand new cell phone but only if your pocket allows. If it is not affordable, refurbished cell phones are the best option.

Statistics show that about 150 million people in the United States use mobile phones and upgrade them approximately every 2 years. It is due to this fact that a large number of used phones come into the market every year.

The refurbished cell phone sellers buy previously owned mobile phones and renovate them for sale. Refurbished cell phones often come in two varieties. One variety consists of cell phones which are brand new and work perfectly, while the other type has minor damage. Mostly, the damage does not hamper the basic functionality of the phone. Generally, refurbished cell phones are tested for their quality and performance by qualified technicians before they are put up for sale.

If you plan to buy a refurbished cell phone, you must be careful about certain things.

Firstly, you should make sure that the reconditioned piece comes for a price that is lower than a brand new one. It is extremely important to calculate the price difference between a refurbished and a brand new cell phone of the model you choose to buy.

Next, you should consider your mobile phone usage. Consider the frequency of your cell phone usage and also think about the frequency of replacing mobile phones. If you are likely to replace old models for new ones frequently, it is better that you go for a brand new model. If you are a techno-buff who loves to possess the latest models in cell phones, you’d better stay away from buying refurbished ones.

It is important to ask yourself if you have chosen the right refurbished cell phone manufacturer to buy a cell phone from. There are chances of getting cheated if you do not approach a reputed manufacturer for the deal. Make sure that the company discloses the process of reconditioning, when asked for. Also remember to ask the seller for a warranty card. Yes, even refurbished cell phones come with a warranty period, although it might be shorter in comparison to that of a brand new model.

There is an environmental aspect to the idea of buying refurbished cell phones. Wondering what it is? Well, it is about conservation of the environment by supporting the recycling of mobile phones. Frequent replacement of cell phones adds to the electronic waste in the environment, as they have to be dumped as garbage. On the contrary, if there are some people buying refurbished ones, they contribute to reducing e-waste. When you buy a reconditioned phone, you actually encourage the idea of saving the environment by setting an example of your own. So what have you decided? The next time you think of replacing your old model, will you consider buying a refurbished one? Well, I will.

Hello? It’s for You.

really cheap cell phones without contractThe hunt for no contract cell phones for sale usually means that buyers are actually looking to purchase unlocked used cell phones. Typically, when a mobile phone is purchased the owner signs up with a new wireless carriers plan and receives a reduced rate or a free phone with the contract. These phones are what are referred to as ‘locked’ since it can’t be used on another carriers network.

Even if the phone becomes deactivated whenever it is placed back into service, or reactivated, it remains on that specific carriers network. Should the subscriber have a need or desire to switch to another carrier then, unfortunately, they would need to also change the mobile phone as well. So, the need for an ‘unlocked’ phone arises. GSM phones are most popular to be unlocked as they can be used with any GSM SIM card even overseas. CDMA can also be unlocked, but, only to be used on another CDMA network.

One ringy, dingy.

Obviously, it works to the advantage of the wireless carriers to have their customers purchase locked cell phones as this is their way of keeping the customers ‘locked’ into their wireless service. Which is the opposite of what many users would like to do, namely keep their phones, but, have the option to switch carriers at any time. Thus the advantage of unlocked used cell phones.

Purchasing a GSM unlocked used cell phone means you just have to change the GSM SIM card in order to change the carrier service. Then the mobile phone would instantly access the new network service. CDMA mobile users can get unlocked phones, but, don’t usually do it because they specifically wanted the network they chose. Places that have no contract cell phones for sale will typically offer both CDMA and GSM from providers such as Verizon Cell Phones, Boost Mobile, Alltel, Sprint, Nextel, AT&T / Cingular, T-Mobile, Ntelos, Cricket and Others.
