SIM card phones or GSM phones can be easily activated without the service provider being involved. These types of phones are more desirable for purchase. The others must go through an activation process via their respective companies (Sprint, Verizon, etc). If the phone has been reported lost or stolen, it cannot be activated. Also, if it has an unpaid balance, it cannot be activated. This only applies to the non SIM card family of phones. This is why the SIM card phone or GSM phone is most desirable. Most online buyback companies will not pay for a cell phone that cannot be reactivated. Gazelle will pay a broken phone price for such phones, however. If the populace from which you are drawing your phones from is one that can be spoken to (church, ladies group, scout’s, etc) let them know you only collect GSM phones and explain what that is. If your audience cannot be collected and addressed, then sort your collection between the two groups.
4) Go to an online buyback company, such as Gazelle, and submit an order. You can do this in several fashions.
a. You can simply submit the entire box and let Gazelle sort them and price them out or,
b. You can submit two separate orders, one for GSM and the other for CDMA. GSM phones have a higher success rate for earning the most money. The CDMA’s are usually parted out.
5) Follow the instructions outlined in the Terms and Conditions and wait for a check!
